Intralign Earns “Innovative Technology” Award from Novation
Phoenix, AZ Dec 12, 2013 – Intralign recently received a highly sought-after “Innovative Technology” award from Novation, the leading health care supply chain expertise, analytics and contracting company. Intralign earned the distinction for its Intra-Operative Support service, which enables hospitals and surgeons to provide better quality of care and increase surgical throughput by supplying highly skilled Surgical First Assists (SFAs) to the operating room.
As part of a very competitive review process, Intralign’s Intra-Operative Support service was thoroughly evaluated by hospital member-led councils and found to have an incremental benefit over other products that focus on improving patient care or reducing the risk of harm to patients and care givers. Intralign SFAs can help reduce surgery time by 30 percent and increase surgeon throughput by 42 percent, all without sacrificing quality of care.
The significant designation was awarded after Novation’s Innovative Technology Expo in October and is only provided once a year to a small portion of products that are already available on contract through Novation.

Penlon Welcomes Oxford Theatre Personnel
Penlon HQ in Abingdon opened its doors recently to a group of newly qualified theatre personnel from Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital
Abingdon, UK Nov 20, 2013 — The visitors were given a tour of the assembly areas, followed by an informative training session on anaesthesia systems from Penlon’s global training manager.
The group found the factory tour extremely interesting, for the majority it was a first ever glimpse into medical device assembly and test processes, as carried out by a world class manufacturer conforming to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 (the stringent standard that governs quality management systems for the design and manufacture of medical devices).
The training session included a general introduction to anaesthesia systems, and a highlight of the session was an opportunity to view partially dismantled products, with the function of critical components explained. The importance and value of manufacturer’s recommended pre-use checks was also explained and emphasised.
Penlon welcomes the opportunity to meet and talk to clinical staff involved in anaesthesia and is particularly passionate about supporting the local community, students and newly qualified staff as they start their careers in the world of anaesthesia and critical care.
Ronald Lyder, Practice Educator, stated “The day was fascinating, edifying, educational and the hands on bit was very interesting. We gained an understanding of how the anaesthesia machines are made and now understand the reason and logic for the pre-use tests requested by the manufacturer and how to care for the machine by using it correctly”.

A portfolio company of Altaris Capital Partners and Heritage Group, Intralign offers surgical assistance in combination with analytics and process design services to help providers optimize quality and cost of major joint replacement and other surgeries.
“It’s a tremendous privilege for an industry leader like Cardinal Health to support our vision for implementing sustainable change management solutions within hospitals and health systems to improve the cost-effectiveness of healthcare delivery,” said Rick Ferreira, president and CEO of Intralign. “Today, Intralign’s services focus on the intra-operative space – where more than 40 percent of the cost of the total episode of care is incurred.
