Precyse Scores High on the KLAS Mid-Term Performance Review Report

Precyse’s ICD-10 Consulting and Transcription Services Recognized with High Performance Scores
Wayne, PA and Alpharetta, GA Jul 16, 2013 — Precyse, a leader in Health Information Management (HIM) technology and services, is proud to announce that both its ICD-10 Consulting group and its Transcription Services group have received outstanding scores in the KLAS “2013 MidTerm Performance Review: Software & Services” report. Precyse received an overall score of 93.2 for ICD-10 Consulting and a 93.1 for Transcription.
According to the KLAS report, all performance scores have been compiled from the feedback of thousands of healthcare providers at physician offices, clinics, hospitals and integrated delivery networks throughout the United States. Precyse was also given high marks in Konfidence Level, which denotes the number of unique provider organizations that provided feedback to KLAS.
“To achieve these outstanding KLAS scores, as well as being named 2012 Best in KLAS for Transcription Services, it takes commitment, hard work and a relentless focus on serving our customers’ needs,” said Precyse President Chris Powell. “I am so proud of our colleagues who go above and beyond to make these scores possible, and I’m grateful to all our clients who have taken the time to share their input.”
From an integrated platform for inpatient and outpatient computer assisted coding (CAC) and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) to a unique and innovative ICD-10 education offering to a comprehensive array of leading HIM service offerings, Precyse allows healthcare organizations to harness the Power of One, serving as a single source for all of their Health Information Management needs. Precyse’s Transcription Technology and Services drive exceptional electronic documentation that better supports the data challenges healthcare providers are facing today, such as ICD-10, Meaningful Use and Core Measures.
Precyse and HealthStream (NASDAQ: HSTM), the largest provider of learning and talent management solutions in healthcare, have teamed together to offer Precyse University, which is the most complete “ICD-10 education solution” on the market today. This solution is designed to prepare coders, physicians, nurses, case managers, administrative staff and all other impacted populations for the upcoming transition to ICD-10. Precyse was also recognized in an earlier KLAS report, “ICD-10 Consulting: Roadmap to a Successful Transition,” as the “only firm in this report to receive 100% positive comments from their clients about their ICD-10 services.”
“Recent surveys by both the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) have indicated that ICD-10 readiness is lagging,” said Thomas Ormondroyd, Vice President and General Manager of Precyse Learning Solutions. “The time is now to engage in ICD-10 preparation and education, and Precyse is uniquely positioned to help healthcare organizations achieve successful results.”

Precyse Encourages Clients to Continue ICD-10 Preparations

Amid distractions, healthcare organizations must remain steadfast and continue their ICD-10 implementation plans
Wayne, PA and Alpharetta, GA Jun 28, 2013 — Precyse, a leader in Health Information Management (HIM) technology and services, continues to encourage current and prospective clients to move forward with their ICD-10 preparations. Despite recent distractions, such as the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates agreeing to lobby Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for a 2-year “grace period” for physicians to ensure accurate implementation following the October 2014 deadline, the deadline is holding fast. Farzad Mostashari, MD, the national coordinator for healthcare IT, stated last week there would be no extension of the deadline.
While these ramblings continue, there is a clear picture emerging that healthcare organizations are not ready. According to two separate recent surveys — one from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the other from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) — ICD-10 readiness is lagging.
“There is certainly much hard work in the form of clinical documentation improvement, training and development, process improvement and systems testing to be completed between now and October 2014. We are telling our clients that now is not the time to procrastinate,” said Chris Powell, president of Precyse. “As physicians, hospitals and payers manage the ICD-10 transition amid other pressing initiatives, it is critical that we remind ourselves why ICD-10 is so important. ICD-10 gives physicians and hospitals better information about patient populations for use in quality and outcomes programs to help improve patient health, while allowing them to be appropriately reimbursed for the care provided. Staying resolute on this cutover date allows our industry to focus on the health of our nation’s hospitals, physicians and the patients whom we all ultimately serve.”

Precyse Offers Solutions to Combat Hospital and Physician Reimbursement Cuts

Hospitals facing onslaught of challenges including recent 2 percent Medicare sequestration
Wayne, PA and Alpharetta, GA May 14, 2013 — As hospitals and healthcare providers begin to face a vast array of reimbursement challenges in 2013, including the 2 percent Medicare reimbursement cuts that went into effect on April 1, 2013, they are looking to Precyse, a leader in Health Information Management (HIM) technology and services, for help. With its expert staffs and customized technology solutions, Precyse is well positioned to help many facilities minimize some of the challenges they are facing.
Most recently, budget sequestration has triggered about $1 trillion in across-the-board cuts to the federal budget, including this 2 percent reduction to Medicare reimbursement rates. The cut applies to payments made for services provided by physicians and hospitals, as well as monthly payments to Medicare private insurers and Part D prescription drug plans.
“Precyse is uniquely positioned to help healthcare facilities quickly affect their unbilled accounts receivable (A/R) and accelerate cash flows while reducing their HIM cost footprint,” explained Precyse President Chris Powell. “Our high quality standards and proven ability to augment and enhance HIM departments by delivering measurable results at reduced costs can empower healthcare providers to take on this latest challenge.”
Precyse’s HIM Strategic Sourcing™, an innovative solution combining technology and services, can help hospital or physician practice HIM departments optimize their effectiveness and advance their capabilities and functions to successfully operate under a more challenging reimbursement environment. Most recently, in just 4 months, Precyse was able to help Naples Community Healthcare System (NCHS), a 672-bed system located in Naples, FL, decrease its inpatient weekly DNFB (Discharged Not Final Billed—unbilled AR) from more than $16 million to $5 million, and its outpatient DNFB from more than $14 million to under $2 million. Also, outpatient accounts receivable days went from 7 days to 2, and average inpatient accounts receivable days went from 10 days to under 2.
In addition to Precyse’s HIM Strategic Sourcing™, Precyse’s clinical documentation improvement (CDI) solutions are demonstrating quick financial returns on investment in only a matter of months. “By implementing a full phase CDI program, our clients are experiencing cash returns of more than $800,000 in only 8 months,” said Mark Hendricks, MBA, RHIA, commercial general manager and vice president for precyseCode™, precyseCDI™ and CDI services. These clients range from a 242-bed facility in New Jersey saving more than $450,000 in 4 months to a Mid-Atlantic health system with 477 beds saving more than $800,000 in less than 8 months.
“It is estimated that facilities can realize $5,000 of incremental annual revenue per staffed bed using our CDI program,” continued Hendricks. “Our clients are improving workflow and productivity while optimizing DRG coding accuracy, cash flow and revenues. In addition, our CDI clients are using their CDI programs to assess quality standards, patient safety goals and compliance. We are also seeing our clients enhancing their ability to identify and resolve problems and to differentiate payment based on performance.”
Precyse’s HIM Strategic Sourcing and CDI services are comprehensive and far reaching, providing HIM departments with the leadership and collaborative spirit needed to drive the change that is necessary to improve results. With Precyse as a partner, healthcare facilities can achieve operational excellence and superior financial performance, positioning them for future success, even in this very challenging reimbursement environment.

Precyse Partners with TruCode for Encoding Services

Partnership to provide a seamless, integrated computer assisted coding with encoder solution
Wayne, PA and Alpharetta, GA Mar 1, 2013 — Precyse, a leader in health information management (HIM) technologies and services, has signed an integration and distribution agreement with TruCode®, a leading provider of encoder technology. This agreement represents another milestone for Precyse in the delivery of a state-of-the-art, single integrated platform for all clinical documentation improvement (CDI), coding and auditing activities.
Streamlining the coding process is critical for a successful transition to ICD-10. No longer will it be necessary for coders to interact with an encoder separately. The Precyse solution makes it easy for coders to validate the computer-assigned codes with the integrated code edits, references and grouper capabilities seamlessly available during the coding validation process.
This all-in-one offering will enhance coder productivity and accuracy, supporting timely and accurate reimbursement. The integrated solution will also facilitate:
• Medical coding consistency and speed;
• Reduced billing cycle time;
• Rapid validation of computer-assigned codes;
• Appropriate reimbursement;
• Easier transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10; and
• Automated machine learning, resulting in continuous improvement of the natural
language processing (NLP) results.
“Our goal is to break down the barriers between encoding and computer assisted coding so that coders have access to the tools they need when they need them, without going into a separate application,” said Tom Golden, CTO for TruCode. “This partnership does just that. We’re very excited about the combined solution that Precyse will deliver to the market and the coding productivity and accuracy benefits their customers will experience.”
“Precyse is committed to continually introducing technology to automate manual tasks and increase productivity and throughput. An embedded encoder enables the coder to focus on the complexities of the coding process by removing those tasks that can be facilitated by technology,” said Chris Powell, President of Precyse. “Our own HIM professionals have been using the TruCode encoder and have provided extremely positive feedback. It is why we are very excited to work with TruCode to help our users streamline their coding processes and recognize all the other benefits of the all-in-one Precyse solution.”

Precyse Releases New HIM Innovation Community White Paper at HIMSS 2013

Group of HIM thought leaders from more than 30 top healthcare institutions share insights
Wayne, PA and Alpharetta, GA Feb 28, 2013 — Precyse, a leader in health information management (HIM) technologies and services, will release a new white paper from the HIM Innovation Community at the HIMSS 2013 Annual Conference & Exhibition March 3-7 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans (Booth #4369). Titled “Health Information Management in 2016: Guiding Principles and a Governance Framework for a Digital Age,” the white paper is authored by Linda L. Kloss, RHIA, Kloss Strategic Advisors, Ltd., former CEO of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and one of Modern Healthcare’s top 25 Women in Healthcare, in collaboration with Precyse thought leaders and HIM professionals from 30 top healthcare institutions in North America.
Precyse convened the HIM Innovation Community in 2011 to consider how health information management is changing and to share learning about how to facilitate positive change. The Community explores trends and their impact on information management and considers future
scenarios for HIM practice based on assumptions regarding the pace and sequence of change and the impact of technology on these changes.
The HIM Innovation Community’s new white paper is a sequel to the white paper the group released in 2012, titled “Health Information Management in 2016: The HIM Industry’s Transformative Journey to Enterprise Information Management – What Does the HIM Department of the Future Look Like?” This first paper examined future scenarios for HIM and laid out a draft framework for enterprise information management. Now in its second year, the HIM Innovation Community continues this discussion with its second paper, which sets forth guiding principles for information management and a plan of action for putting them to use to drive transformational change in healthcare.
“The healthcare industry’s transition to e-information management is occurring at accelerating speed. Policies, standards and best information management practices lag behind technology, compromising the value of information assets,” said Kloss. “The HIM Innovation Community is committed to accelerating learning and adoption of sound and reliable management and governance practices. Members of the community and their organizations are figuring it out dayby-day. The collaborative work of the community is capturing these lessons and creating a new body of knowledge.”
“I truly appreciate the opportunity to participate in this group and hear the best leaders discussing key strategies for the future,” said Dee Garcia, RHIT, CCS, HIM Director of Coding, PeaceHealth, and a member of the HIM Innovation Community. “The group includes such great minds and engaging topics; I applaud what Precyse is doing here.”
“Precyse is honored to be the sponsor of the HIM Innovation Community,” said Chris Powell, President, Precyse. “As the healthcare industry continues to evolve and face the challenges of government regulations, the transition to ICD-10 and the demand for meaningful use of healthcare data, it is vital that the HIM industry provide the people, processes and technology to meet these challenges. The HIM Innovation Community brings together the best and brightest thought leaders in the HIM industry, collaborating to share information and best practices.”
