Paragon Medical Inducted into Kosciusko County Entrepreneur and Innovation Hall of Fame

Pierceton, IN Nov 9, 2011 – Pierceton based Paragon Medical and its Founder and CEO Tobias Buck were inducted into the Kosciusko County Entrepreneur and Innovation Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 8th in Warsaw, Indiana. As a member of only the second Hall of Fame class, Paragon was among six businesses chosen from orthopaedics, agriculture, recreational-boat, manufacturing and retail industries.
The award honors both the company as a whole and the key entrepreneur behind its success. According to the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation (KEDCo), who sponsors the award, it was created to not only recognize entrepreneurial organizations in the community but also to reinforce the pride of employees and citizens in the success of the local business environment and position Kosciusko County for a growing and vital economic future.

Paragon Medical Names New Chief Compliance Officer

Pierceton, IN Feb 1, 2011 – Pierceton based Paragon Medical announces the addition of Michael Gosmeyer as Chief Compliance Office (CCO) and Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
Mr. Gosmeyer joins Paragon after having served as the Director of Regulatory Affairs at the headquarters of Hill-Rom, a global medical device company. He has spent the past few years managing and overseeing company wide Regulatory and Quality Systems, as well as, all FDA interface points. Previous positions with Hill-Rom include Director of Quality Assurance where he was responsible for manufacturing operations in Europe, Mexico and the United States.
In addition to his quality management experience, Mr. Gosmeyer also has a strong engineering background and has held various engineering management positions overseeing product engineering, design assurance, product life-cycle management, and continuous improvement. He is Six Sigma Greenbelt Certified and holds an MBA, as well as a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
In his new role, Mr. Gosmeyer’s span of Quality and Regulatory responsibilities will give him oversight of Paragon’s current Global Quality Organization. “This position demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the medical device industry’s complex Quality and Regulatory compliance requirements and our conviction to ensure that our products and services meet and ultimately exceed our customers’ desires and expectations,” commented Tobias Buck, Founder, Chairman, President and CEO for Paragon. “Our objective is to be in an industry leading position, elevating our internal expectations as well as complying with those of our clients. For Paragon Medical, Inc., and one of its founders Tobias Buck, June 17th was a day for celebrating. Coincidentally with it being Mr. Buck’s birthday, Paragon Medical celebrated their 20 year anniversary since being founded. The company traces its roots back to 1991 when it began as a polymer molding company and a systems integrator, as well as a medical device tier one supplier.
Twenty years, and countless innovations later, Paragon Medical is recognized as an industry leading turnkey supplier of world-class solutions for instrument delivery systems, surgical instrumentation, implantable components and design services to the medical device marketplace, worldwide. Paragon Medical Announces Opening of Bioskills Lab

Pierceton based Paragon Medical announced today the official opening of its new Bioskills Lab at its headquarters in Pierceton, Indiana. Company management and employees were joined at a ribbon cutting on January 19, 2011 by the Warsaw / Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and other local officials to commemorate this important event for the company and the community.
In December 2009, Paragon announced that through its Orthopaedic Instrument Global Design Center (OIGDC), it would accelerate the construction of this new lab in direct support of OrthoWorx, a Warsaw-based industry, community and education initiative established to advance and support growth and innovation within the region’s globally significant orthopaedics device sector.
The fully staffed facility is ready for client scheduling and includes capacity for up to four cadaveric evaluation stations and targets the comfort of lab attendees through ergonomic tables, laminar airflow, separate temperature zones, and a private conference room with a viewing window into the lab. A multitude of other services are available upon request including specimen procurement and preparation, instrument cleanup in a state of the art instrument disinfection system, C-Arm and Arthroscopy Tower rentals, audio-visual connectivity, and full catering capabilities.
According to Van Flamion, Director of the Bioskills Lab and Paragon’s OIGDC, “The lab was designed and constructed for the sole purpose of providing our customers a convenient, cost effective, full service facility where orthopaedic and other medical device companies can perform cadaveric studies on their products and / or train their surgeons or field representatives on surgical techniques pertaining to their products”.
Mr. Flamion also commented that a soft launch phase was conducted with a limited and controlled number of labs during the fourth quarter of 2010. The Bioskills Lab exercised its logistics as a full service facility while gathering critical customer feedback to ensure optimization prior to going to its now full-launch status.

Paragon Medical Honored as Supplier to an MDEA 2010 Winner

Jun 9, 2010 – Paragon Medical was honored as a supplier to a winning product in the 2010 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition, the premier awards program for the medical technology community. During the entry process for this year’s awards program, Paragon was named by MedShape Solutions, Inc. as their supplier for the award winning Morphix suture anchor.
MedShape is located in Atlanta, Georgia and is dedicated to restoring human motion by innovating unique shape-memory implant devices. Paragon’s Global Design Center got involved early in the project and assisted MedShape through the development, verification, and launch phases for this single-use suture anchor deployment instrument. The Morphix suture anchor was formally launched at the 2010 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in New Orleans.
The deployment device is manufactured complete at Paragon’s Smithfield, Utah facility. This includes five injection molded components, metal machining, ISO class-8 clean room assembly and final packaging. Other supporting instruments including cases and trays were manufactured out of the Pierceton, Indiana facilities.
Presentation of the 2010 MDEA awards took place on Wednesday, June 9th, in a ceremony at the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East 2010 Conference and Exposition, in New York City.
