Morial Convention Center in New Orleans (Booth #4369). Precyse is once again a HIMSS Gold Sponsor, and will also sponsor the HIMSS ICD-10 Symposium and the HIMSS ICD-10 Knowledge Center.
“From an integrated platform for inpatient and outpatient CAC and CDI to a one-of-a-kind ICD-10 education program to a comprehensive array of leading HIM service offerings, Precyse allows healthcare organizations to harness the power of one, serving as a single source for all of their Health Information Management needs,” said Chris Powell, President, Precyse. “Visitors to our booth at HIMSS will be able to see this firsthand.”
PrecyseCode™ and precyseCDI™
A highlight at Precyse’s HIMSS 2013 booth will be its showcase of precyseCode and precyseCDI, the only single, integrated platform enabling both inpatient and outpatient computer assisted coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI). The Cloud-based platform incorporates state-of-art Natural Language Processing (NLP) for embedded intelligence and supports multiple HIM roles across an organization. The precyseCode platform also contains embedded encoder integration.
Visitors to Precyse’s booth will also have the opportunity to speak with a representative from Geisinger Health System, which was the first healthcare organization in the nation to use precyseCode with NLP. Geisinger recognized early on that the transition to ICD-10 was going to be an enterprise-wide endeavor that would require a computer assisted coding platform with tools to improve clinical documentation improvement. That’s why, as the organization began preparing for the ICD-10 transition, it chose precyseCode as an all-in-one solution for transcription, clinical documentation improvement, computer assisted coding and ICD-10 education.
“At Geisinger our vision was to introduce natural language processing technology across the clinical documentation continuum. precyseCode is a key component to accomplishing that goal as it will help us optimize coding processes, improve workflows and accelerate ICD-10 transition,” said Joan Topper, Vice President, IT Optimization, Geisinger Health System, who will be in Precyse’s HIMSS booth to discuss how her organization has benefitted from precyseCode.
Comprehensive ICD-10 Education Program Through Precyse and HealthStream
Visitors to the Precyse booth will also have the opportunity to get more information about Precyse University, the most innovative and complete on-site, online and mobile healthcare education solution that is designed to prepare coders, physicians, nurses, case managers, administrative staff and all other impacted populations for the transition to ICD-10. Precyse Releases New HIM Innovation Community White Paper at HIMSS 2013

Group of HIM thought leaders from more than 30 top healthcare institutions share insights
Wayne, PA and Alpharetta, GA Feb 28, 2013 — Precyse, a leader in health information management (HIM) technologies and services, will release a new white paper from the HIM Innovation Community at the HIMSS 2013 Annual Conference & Exhibition March 3-7 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans (Booth #4369). Titled “Health Information Management in 2016: Guiding Principles and a Governance Framework for a Digital Age,” the white paper is authored by Linda L. Kloss, RHIA, Kloss Strategic Advisors, Ltd., former CEO of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and one of Modern Healthcare’s top 25 Women in Healthcare, in collaboration with Precyse thought leaders and HIM professionals from 30 top healthcare institutions in North America.
Precyse convened the HIM Innovation Community in 2011 to consider how health information management is changing and to share learning about how to facilitate positive change. The Community explores trends and their impact on information management and considers future
scenarios for HIM practice based on assumptions regarding the pace and sequence of change and the impact of technology on these changes.
The HIM Innovation Community’s new white paper is a sequel to the white paper the group released in 2012, titled “Health Information Management in 2016: The HIM Industry’s Transformative Journey to Enterprise Information Management – What Does the HIM Department of the Future Look Like?” This first paper examined future scenarios for HIM and laid out a draft framework for enterprise information management. Now in its second year, the HIM Innovation Community continues this discussion with its second paper, which sets forth guiding principles for information management and a plan of action for putting them to use to drive transformational change in healthcare.
“The healthcare industry’s transition to e-information management is occurring at accelerating speed. Policies, standards and best information management practices lag behind technology, compromising the value of information assets,” said Kloss. “The HIM Innovation Community is committed to accelerating learning and adoption of sound and reliable management and governance practices. Members of the community and their organizations are figuring it out dayby-day. The collaborative work of the community is capturing these lessons and creating a new body of knowledge.”
“I truly appreciate the opportunity to participate in this group and hear the best leaders discussing key strategies for the future,” said Dee Garcia, RHIT, CCS, HIM Director of Coding, PeaceHealth, and a member of the HIM Innovation Community. “The group includes such great minds and engaging topics; I applaud what Precyse is doing here.”
“Precyse is honored to be the sponsor of the HIM Innovation Community,” said Chris Powell, President, Precyse. “As the healthcare industry continues to evolve and face the challenges of government regulations, the transition to ICD-10 and the demand for meaningful use of healthcare data, it is vital that the HIM industry provide the people, processes and technology to meet these challenges. The HIM Innovation Community brings together the best and brightest thought leaders in the HIM industry, collaborating to share information and best practices.”

OsoBio to Join Injectable Trends Discussion at DCAT Week

Albuquerque, NM Feb 20, 2013 – OsoBio President Milton Boyer will serve on a panel of experts examining shortages of injectable pharmaceuticals during DCAT Week.
Boyer and other industry leaders will review the unique challenges facing the sterile injectable supply chain during a panel discussion 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 13. The panel, “Key Trends for Sterile Injectable Manufacturing and Outsourcing,” will meet in the Vanderbilt Room at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
DCAT Week – sponsored annually by the Drug, Chemical and Associated Technologies Association (DCAT) – is one of the pharmaceutical industry’s largest and most important annual educational and networking meetings. Last year, nearly 2,000 people attended the DCAT Week keynote address.
Companies developing sterile products are being challenged by significant regulatory pressures and uncertainty in the supply base, which can affect quality, compliance and cost competitiveness. As a result, shortages of sterile injectable pharmaceuticals are on the rise, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The DCAT Week panel will lead a discussion examining trends and steps underway at contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs), as well as pharmaceutical companies, to improve operational security while remaining competitive. Boyer will focus on the changing regulatory climate and its influence on traditional drug sponsor and CMO relationships.
“The industry is seeing simultaneous increases in both outsourcing and regulatory actions, which are changing how drug sponsors and CMOs collaborate,” Boyer said. “DCAT Week brings together a broad coalition of strategic thinkers willing to look at the big picture, which should make this a timely and informative conversation.”
During DCAT Week, OsoBio will serve as the registration partner and reception host for a session called “Facilities of the Future: Single-Use Technologies” taking place March 13 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., with the reception following immediately afterward.
OSO BioPharmaceuticals Manufacturing, LLC, is a CMO that specializes in delivering injectable sterile liquid, suspension and lyophilized biologic and pharmaceutical products to the pharmaceutical industry. The company offers significant knowledge and experience in late-phase clinical products and successfully taking them to commercialization.
